I'm currently majoring in Environmental Science. I participate in the STEAM Club and Honors program. I'm a chapter and regional officer in Phi Theta Kappa. This is my forth semester completing research through the S-STEM/TRAIN program. The picture above is the research that I did for Nanotechnology Collaborative Infrastructure over the summer of 2019 at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. I started out really interested in genetics and immunotherapy, but as I’ve had an opportunity to explore different topics in science through my classes and the S-STEM program, I’ve become more interested in our impact in the environment and how that effects us. The research that I’ve done to date has focused on microplastic contamination. I have completed a course that certifies me to use our campus’ Scanning Electron Microscope independently. I am currently using the SEM in my research. Phoenix College is the only community college in the Maricopa Community Colleges that has an SEM on campus. I’m excited to continue to explore different topics in science and see where it takes me and to continue to become more confident about what I’m interested in.
My favorite activities are reading, cooking, and swimming. I live with my husband, Robert, my 6 year old son, Liam, and our dog, Sunshine. I don't know how I would do this without the support of my wonderful family.
